What Is this Place, Anyway?

As I wrote in my first post on this blog (here), the original purpose of this blog is to give me a place to blather on about stuff. Mostly this will be the Red Sox, the Patriots, and Baseball/Football in general, but other sports might pop up from time to time, as well as updates on coding projects (for now, that means a perpetually in-progress baseball simulator), and possibly even politics on rare occasions if I am especially inclined. Also likely to show up on this blog are spelling and grammar errors, two things which despite my efforts I am notoriously bad at avoiding. Finally, I tend to use relatively advanced statistics when writing about sports, which for convenience are usually abbreviated or written as an acronym (ex, FIP and WAR). Usually the first mention of them is a hyperlink to the Fangraphs Library entry on the subject, which should make things much clearer (we will see if I can keep that up, or figure out how to do it automatically). I appreciate feedback, provided that it is civil and constructive. Finally, I am writing this on a "when I feel like it" basis, which will probably include some long stretches with no posts and some days in which I put out two or three.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you stick around!
